More than 90 years ago, a hair salon opened its doors and committed its business to making people look good and feel beautiful. This business venture eventually became the largest hair salon chain in the world with over 11,000 salons to date.
Paul and Florence Kunin opened Kunin Beauty Salon in 1922 and expanded the business into a chain mostly located in department stores. It was their son Myron, who purchased the business and changed its name to Regis. Ranked part of the Fortune 1000, the business holds its headquarters in Edina, Minnesota and owns brand names Vidal Sassoon, City Looks, Saturday’s Carlton Hair International, Images Salon, Michael of the Carlyle, Borics Hair, Jean Louis David and Saint Algue to name a few.
Regis Corp is now known as a billion dollar empire and a global leader in beauty salons, cosmetology education and hair restoration. At the end of their 2011 fiscal year, the business reported revenue of $2.3 billion.
